My Story

Welcome to my world. And what a world it is! Growing up in Baltimore in the 60s, girls were supposed to limit their futures to teaching, nursing, marriage, and living in the suburbs. The “cool” stuff was for guys.

But there’s a streak of rebel in me. When we were asked what we wanted to be when we grew up, I said I wanted to fly a plane. Everyone laughed. I said I wanted to go to Australia. Everyone laughed. I said I wanted to be a writer. Everyone laughed. I said I wanted to leave Baltimore and see the rest of the world. Everyone laughed. I said I wanted to have a horse. Everyone laughed.

I have my pilot’s license and own my plane. Two horses. More published articles than I can count and three books. Lived in Europe; became a travel writer. Flew across Queensland, Australia. Cuddled a koala and snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef.

When I go to class reunions, everyone looks at me and says, “Huh?”

While travel and lifestyle are my specialties, I’m a very flexible writer. With over 30 years of writing experience, there are few projects I haven’t handled. I’ve worked for government and corporations, in tourism and health care, as freelance and contract. I have over 200 published articles in national, regional, and local publications and on-line outlets.

I am endlessly curious and have a knack for translating technical material into layman’s language. I’ve written everything from an analysis of a dam collapse in the UK to a business profile of a banner-towing aviation company; a survey of the best corporate gifts to a feature on a school for butlers in London. I’ve fact-checked continuing education material for a medical association and written guidebooks on U.S. and Australian travel. I’ve written brochures for start-ups, cover letters for business proposals, and blogs for regional magazines.

Whether the company is a single professional wanting sharp copy on a do-it-yourself website or a department of state government recruiting support from the private sector, I regard every client as equally important; I’m being trusted to give them my best, and that’s what I do.

I’m a stickler for accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness. My job is to make your job easier, to bring in the project on-time and on-budget. Let’s talk.
